What is Technology Integration?

Here is my simple definition for technology integration. In an educational setting technology integration is the combination of all elements involved in seamlessly infusing technology into the curriculum. Elements involved in technology integration may include but are certainly not limited to discovery, training, and implementation. Discovery occurs when one realizes there is a need to add technology to the curriculum that is currently being taught. After the person realizes they need to add technology they then seek out ways to add the technology. Training begins next. Training is the process that the person learns about the technology. Training may be in a formal form like a professional development course. Training could also be in an informal form like a web search or talking to someone who is currently using the piece of technology. After training has occurred implementation is the next step. Implementation is the actual use of the technology in the classroom. A new technology has been fully integrated when using the technology has become second nature to the teacher.
